SIWAN, Bihar: The controversial RJD MP from Siwan Mohammad Shahabuddin, who is on the run after Bihar Director General of Police D P Ojha (DGP) ordered his arrest a few days ago, said on Sunday that the whole party along with its leadership is with him. DGP Ojha''s action against him has neither anything to do with the RJD nor is it politically motivated, he added.
Shahabuddin was talking to this reporter at a place in the neighbouring Gorakhpur district of UP on Sunday.
He said the DGP has lost his mental balance and is taking action against him in order to gain cheap popularity. He has never been compatible with the caste to which the DGP belongs, and this is an important cause of the DGP having a personal bias against him, Shahabuddin added.
Replying to a question as to why the RJD supremo is maintaining stony silence on the issue, Shahabuddin said he had a talk with Laloo Prasad Yadav and that his relation with him is like an elder brother. He said he is taking stock of the situation and would break his silence at an opportune moment. Every person has some constraints, and there is a way of doing everything, the MP maintained.
Shahabuddin said he is not an absconder but is following the judicial process. He has full faith in the judiciary. He filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Siwan court. After this, he would go to the high court and then to the Supreme Court. The question of his surrender would arise only after bail is finally denied to him, the MP observed. He said that his politics have always been based on truth and principles and that there is no question of his joining any other party.
In reply to another question, Shahabuddin said if the situation becomes provocative enough, he would quit politics and devote himself to academic and social activities. Assailing the DGP, the MP warned that the situation would become uncontrollable if the DGP puts any hurdle or causes provocation in his efforts to follow the path of judicial process.
